GEOTRACES mixer brings the community together at Goldschmidt 2026

GEOTRACES research was well represented at the Goldschmidt 2026 Conference (12–17 July, Montréal, Canada), with two sessions. The Early Career Scientist (ECS) Committee organised Session 12c: The Role of Boundaries Across Scales in Shaping Marine Trace Element Distributions, while Session 09k: Integrating Biological and Geochemical Perspectives on Trace Metal(loid) Transformations Across Ecosystems explored the interactions between biological and geochemical processes driving trace metal(loid) transformations.

Following these engaging scientific sessions, GEOTRACES scientists gathered for an evening mixer organised by the ECS Committee.

The event brought together a fantastic mix of early-career and senior scientists, creating a welcoming atmosphere for networking and discussion. It was great to see both familiar faces and new members of the community, with lively conversations continuing throughout the evening.

The mixer provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations, forge new connections, and exchange ideas across different career stages and research topics. Events such as these highlight the collaborative spirit of the GEOTRACES programme and the importance of supporting the next generation of marine biogeochemists!
