GEOTRACES is committed to the protection of your personal data in compliance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). 

 This page describes the processing of personal data relating to the use of the geotraces.org website.

Information about data processing

Personal data is likely to be collected as a result of:

  • Newsletters subscriptions
  • Participation in events
  • Subscription to the Researchers Analytical Expertise Database

Data collected

Data collected: The following personal data is likely to be collected: Last name, first name, Affiliating entity (institute, laboratory, etc.), function, email address, country and continent.

Data source: The data come from the registration, by the person wishing (1) to receive the emails distributed through the GEOTRACES mailing list, (2) register for a GEOTRACES event or (3) sharing his/her analytical expertise information, using the registration forms available on the GEOTRACES site.

Persons concerned: Data processing only concerns people who wish to register using the subscription forms available on the GEOTRACES site.

Data recipients: The recipients of the data are the officers of the GEOTRACES International Project Office and the US GEOTRACES Project Office.

Cookies: GEOTRACES website is using Google Analytics for statistics. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. Please read the cookies notice.

 

Data transfers outside the EU

GEOTRACES is sharing data collected from US subscribers to the GEOTRACES mailing list (Last name, first name, email address, country and continent) with the US GEOTRACES Project Office so that US GEOTRACES Programme can inform them about the existence of an US GEOTRACES mailing list.

 

Data retention period

The duration of the retention period of the data as long as the person concerned does not unsubscribe (via the unsubscribe link integrated into the newsletters or by sending us) will not exceed:

  • the duration of the GEOTRACES programme. At the end of the programme the data will be erased.
  • 1 month of after an e-mail address is bouncing. In such case, personal data are erased as part of the right to be forgotten.
  • The duration of an event at the end of which the list of data required for registration is erased.

 

Guarantees and exercise of rights

In accordance with the Data Protection Act and the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (RGPD), you have the rights to access, rectify, erasure and withdraw the consent or request the limitation of processing of your personal data.
