2nd GEOTRACES Intercalibration Workshop

Overview
The goal for this workshop will be to go over the results we have to date and discuss them…what works and what does not – the actual Intercalibration! We anticipate this will be 2/3 of the meeting time. The remaining 1/3 will be planning Cruise 2 in the North Pacific. So, everyone needs to plan on getting as many analyses as possible completed before the workshop, ideally by November so that you can discuss the results amongst your colleagues measuring the same suite of dissolved and/or particulate TEIs. We can only accommodate 45 participants at the workshop, with the elemental coordinators having the most priority (they have to attend), and perhaps 2-3 others that are in their group (e.g., the nutrient group should have Karen Casciotti, Albert Colman, and Mark Brzezinski at the meeting); the remaining spots would be for coordinators on the 2nd Cruise who did not participate on Cruise 1. The plan would be for each elemental coordinator to present the overall results to date (maybe 20-30 minutes covering the Intercalibration results and the vertical profiles) and then the entire workshop would discuss the results, in particular looking for trends, etc that match their own. At the end, we’ll spend time synthesizing all of the results – what worked and what didn’t. This would then lead into Cruise 2 planning, with additional topics to be included (e.g., speciation, sample storage, etc).
