GEOTRACES Intercalibration Committee approved more than 1100 datasets in its in person meeting!

The GEOTRACES Standards and Intercalibration (S&I) Committee met in person in Black Rapids, Alaska from 3-7 March 2025. They reviewed the intercalibration reports submitted for data to be included in the next GEOTRACES Intermediate Data Product (IDP2025). This meeting was a great success and the Committee was able to approve over 1100 datasets!

The S&I Committee is responsible for ensuring that accurate and precise data are generated in the GEOTRACES Programme. It is composed of 9 international experts (see list below). The S&I Committee also meets regularly online to ensure a continuous process of reviewing reports. During 2024, they held 5 online meetings.

Due to the imminent publication of the IDP2025, this Committee urges those scientists who have been contacted to provide the report and the requested supplementary information so that they can be discussed at the next online meeting scheduled for 16 May 2025. The DOoR portal is also open and still accepting submissions, therefore those researchers who have not been able to submit a report by the deadline are encouraged to do so at any time.

At the Alaska’s meeting, the S&I also discussed how to facilitate the inclusion of early career researchers in the Committee and discussed the plans and timeline for new S&I members and co-chairs.

Thank you to the S&I Committee members for their hard work and commitment in reviewing the reports. This work is essential to build an internally consistent IDP2025!
