Update on the GA06 Cruise

GA06, a UK GEOTRACES cruise led by Eric Achterberg on the RRS Discovery is a week from completion in the tropical Atlantic. After some initial engine problems that slowed early progress, the cruise has been successful in completing a transect across the oxygen minimum zone (with fascinating shipboard dissolve Fe and Al data) and is now steaming northwards from 7oS completing stations through equatorial upwelling and under the Sarahan dust plume.
