Under Ice Life, 87.8°N, 149.0°W, 11 Sept 2015

Looking around under the ice near the North Pole with my GoPro. The brownish ropy stuff is a type of Arctic diatom (algae), the little fish is a small Arctic Cod, and the bit guy at the end is a Ringed Seal. Filmed at a 2015 US Arctic GEOTRACES ice station by PolarTREC Teacher Bill Schmoker.


Dirty Ice Sampling, Lomonosov Ridge 8 Sept 2015

Dirty ice (which forms when shallow muddy water freezes) is sampled for the 2015 US Arctic GEOTRACES Expedition over the Lomonosov Ridge in the Arctic Ocean on 8 September 2015. This sampling operation was part of the 2015 US Arctic GEOTRACES Expedition, filmed by PolarTREC Teacher Bill Schmoker.
