GEOTRACES highlights from Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026

The GEOTRACES was actively at the Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026, held 22–27 February in Glasgow, Scotland. Throughout the week, GEOTRACES and GEOTRACES-related sessions, posters, and events were held.

Two GEOTRACES and two GEOTRACES-related sessions showcased recent advances on trace metal and isotope science, including:

  • Multi-tracer approaches to understanding and quantifying marine biogeochemical processes
  • Coastal, Shelf, and Island Mass Effects on Trace Element Biogeochemistry in the Ocean
  • Mercury in Polar Waters: Sources, Transformations, and Bioaccumulation in Food Webs
  • Revising the Ocean Silicon Cycle: Pathways, Stoichiometry and Climate–Carbon Feedback in the Anthropocene

GEOTRACES activities were also featured at the SCOR Booth, where committee members met with participants throughout the meeting. A live demonstration of the 2025 GEOTRACES Intermediate Data Product and the DOoR data submission portal was held on Wednesday, providing attendees with an overview of the tools for accessing and submitting GEOTRACES data.
