Webinars featuring GEOTRACES research

Dear colleagues,

Please find below information on two webinars featuring GEOTRACES research:

1- OCB Webinar March 23: Exploring the ocean iron cycle – biological drivers and novel isotopic methods

Join on 23 March 2021 12pm ET for an OCB webinar on Exploring the ocean iron cycle – biological drivers and novel isotopic methods

Anh Pham (Sorbonne University, France) – Biological processes control the ocean iron distribution

Tim Conway (University of South Florida) – Fe isotopes highlight sources of Fe to the ocean interior

2- WHOI Ocean Encounters March 24: Radiation: In our ocean, our planet, and our lives

Ocean Encounters – A virtual series by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

Time: Mar 24, 2021 07:30 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

We live on a radioactive planet. With the 10th anniversary of the accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in Japan, we take a look at the radiation all around us–its natural sources, its human applications, and their impacts on us and our ocean planet. We’ll also delve into some of the beneficial uses of radioactivity and the way we perceive–or mis-perceive–the threats that radiation poses.

Speakers:
Ken Buesseler, WHOI
Shaheen Azim Dewji, Texas A&M University
Ryo Morimoto, Princeton University

Please feel free to share this information widely with your contacts.

Best wishes,
