CNRS Chair position at IPREM, France – Environmental and Analytical Chemistry

Position: Chemical Analysis and Reactivity for the Environment
Reference: CPJ-2025-035
Supporting establishment: National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)
Site concerned: Lille, Aix-Marseille, Pau, Strasbourg
Application Deadline: 14 July 2025 23:59:00 Paris time

There is a CNRS Junior Professor Chair at the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (IPREM), France, in the field of environmental and analytical chemistry. This Chair must lead the candidate to a permanent position of DR CNRS (Senior Scientist).

Profile Required
Holders of a doctorate or a PhD or equivalent degree or applicants who have gained scientific qualifications or carried out scientific work deemed to be of an equivalent level. There is no restriction on the age or nationality of applicants. All CNRS positions are accessible to people with disabilities, with special arrangements for tests made necessary by the nature of the disability

Summary of the scientific project
The project aims to deepen the understanding of physicochemical processes occurring in various terrestrial environments, including the atmosphere, aquatic systems, and soils. It will rely on laboratory experiments and the development of analytical methodologies to provide insights into the reactivity of these environments.

The project may explore interfacial interactions, thereby enriching our understanding of multi-environment dynamics. Analytical techniques will enable the ultra-trace detection of organic compounds in complex samples representative of these environments. These advancements will be valuable for pollutant monitoring and the study of degradation mechanisms.

The analyses will generate new data to better understand the reactivity of these environments and identify potential secondary products that may form. Additionally, the miniaturization of analytical techniques may be considered to facilitate on-site analyses.

Summary of the teaching project
The research theme of this CNRS chair can be adapted to the various targeted universities across the country, depending on the recruitment location. The successful candidate will contribute in particular to teaching in areas such as physical chemistry, chemical kinetics, analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, analytical techniques for gas and liquid phases, sustainable development, and atmospheric chemistry at the undergraduate and master’s levels.
