Dr. Kristen Buck at the University of South Florida College of Marine Science invites applications to fill a Postdoctoral Research position working on a project investigating iron-binding organic ligands in open ocean systems.

Nature of Work:

The successful applicant will be expected to conduct field and laboratory-based studies of iron speciation using a combination of voltammetry ligand measurements and mass spectrometry analyses of trace metal concentrations. The goal of this research project is to advance current methodology and to assess the characteristics and cycling of iron-binding organic ligands across ocean systems.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in chemical oceanography, chemistry, ocean sciences, marine sciences or related field at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with competitive ligand exchange-adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (CLE-AdCSV) analyses of metal speciation and/or
Experience in preconcentration techniques and mass spectrometry analyses for trace metals in open ocean waters
Sea-going experience with trace metal clean sampling
Demonstrated research skills in trace metal clean techniques for sample collection and analyses
Demonstrated ability to write and publish papers
