About the search box on Mendeley: You can use a limited number of advanced queries within the search box in the top right of Mendeley website and/or click on the magnifying glass icon on the right of the search box to access the Mendeley's advanced search page. Please, note that the search box tool is not limited to the "GEOTRACES PhD Dissertations" group yet but to all Mendeley's publications. According to Mendeley this option may be available soon. Searching specific fields: You can narrow down which fields Mendeley should search for your specific keyword by using the following syntax, field:search term. Just replace the field with one of the values from the list below, for which fields you want to search. *author, by, name: You can use any one of these keywords to specify that your term should only be searched for within a reference's authors; For example, author:Anderson would return all publications published by Anderson. To match a phrase, as opposed to a single word, against a keyword, you can just wrap the search term in quotation marks ("). publication:"Science Weekly" would return all of your references that were published in "Science Weekly". Logical operators: By default, if you enter more than one term into search box, it will search only for documents that match all of the terms entered. You can exclude documents that match certain terms from featuring in search results by placing a "-" before the search term. For example, entering ocean -Fe into the search box would return documents that feature "ocean" but exclude those mentioning "Fe". Unfortunately, the "AND" or "OR" keywords are not working properly into the Mendeley's search box (feature under development). |
